“My number was 7L and I was a 15 year old macaque born in a breeding facility in Victoria on the 1st of August 2003. I died unexpectedly in the research laboratory in Victoria on the 21st November 2018. On the day of my death, my heart just stopped and I stopped breathing. I was being used in obesity studies for humans. That sums up my life – born in a primate facility and dying on an operating table. My life should have been so much more than this! Please remember me and honour me with a name.”
