“I didn’t have a name or even an ID number! The image you’re seeing here is how I would have looked if I was able live a full life as a marmoset in the wild. Instead, I was born prematurely and ‘sacrificed’ immediately. ‘Sacrificed’ is the softened word they use in the laboratory when they describe killing primates. ‘Sacrificed’ for what or for whom it’s not clear. My brothers and sisters were killed on day one as well. My mother had no idea what was happening to her. I’m not sure if she went on to have other babies. I feel sad for my brothers and sisters and for my poor mother too. Please remember me and honour me with a name.”
