Rachel Smith

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Rachel holds a MSc in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law from the University of Winchester, during which she undertook her dissertation project on Freedom of Information Legislation and Animal Research.

Rachel has been committed to various animal welfare causes since a young age. During her career has worked for NGOs in the animal welfare and conservation fields, in Europe, Asia and Australia, as well as employment in the community sector for local, state and federal Government.

Carol Cook

OPERATIONS AND SUPPORTER ENGAGEMENT OFFICER

Carol is a qualified lawyer (UK) and certified veterinary nurse (Australia). As a veterinary nurse she worked in general practice, emergency and specialty surgery. She holds a MSc in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law from the University of Winchester, where she also received the Vice Chancellor’s Community Engagement Award, for leading the university to achieve gold accreditation in the national Hedgehog Friendly Campus campaign.

Carol has over two decades of volunteer experience for various animal welfare charities, combining her legal and veterinary nursing skills to fulfill a variety of roles, including fostering and rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned animals, fundraising, community outreach work and administration. She currently volunteers for Mange Management Inc helping to treat mange in wombats. Carol is also an enthusiastic, if somewhat amateur ‘rewilder’, striving to do her bit to help protect and restore indigenous flora in her local area, by removing invasive weeds and gardening for wildlife.

Dr. Natalie Anderson

SCIENCE outreach CONSULTANT

Natalie has a PhD in Public Health, a Masters in Child Health Research and Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and is an experienced medical researcher in the paediatric respiratory medicine field, using in silico and experimental methods. She is currently a Post Doctoral researcher, Science Outreach Consultant for Animal-Free Science Advocacy and on the Editorial Board for Alternatives to Laboratory Animals.

Natalie is passionate about research using non-animal technologies combined with public health research initiatives to forward science without animal experimentation and uphold the scientific ethical responsibility to replace the use of animals wherever possible in research, science, and teaching.

Robyn Kirby

PRIMATE CAMPAIGN CONSULTANT

Robyn holds a Diploma of Communications from Griffith University and brings over 35 years of administrative experience in the fields of law and medicine.

A passionate advocate for animal welfare, Robyn believes that animal experimentation is an unreliable method for studying human diseases. She strongly supports the development and utilisation of non-animal research methods. Robyn is committed to advancing medical research through human biological innovations, envisioning a future where these ethical and effective methods become the standard.
