Regulatory Science Advisor 

From time-to-time AFSA seeks advice from experts in various disciplines.

AFSA is becoming more active in the field of regulatory testing and is seeking to expand our advisory panel to reflect this expanded focus.

We are seeking a voluntary advisor to provide expert guidance on regulatory testing for chemical and pharmaceutical purposes. This expertise will aid AFSA in our engagement with regulatory bodies, provision of feedback on draft regulatory guidelines, and identification of validated non-animal research methods that can be used to replace animal tests.

The role is voluntary with flexible hours, estimated to be at least 6 hours a month; working closely with our Science Outreach Consultant.  It is open to applicants internationally.

The below qualifications and experience are strongly desired:

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in toxicology, pharmacology, cell biology, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in a nongovernmental organisation, government, or industry position related to regulatory testing and/or compliance.
  • A thorough understanding of concepts in toxicology and pharmacology including in vivo, in vitro, and in silico test methods and familiarity with the laws, regulations, and practices related to toxicological testing.
  • Experience with OECD and ICH test guidelines and regulatory requirements
